Last month, HB648, a bill that would protect children from the radical gender ideology, was vetoed, as promised, by Gov. John Bel Edwards. Read more about HB648 here.
HB648, which has significant and strong bipartisan support, and is a reflection of the will of the people of Louisiana, prohibits gender “re-assignment” healthcare for transgender youth. Gov. Edwards has proven he has no issue with medical experimentation on children and will be leaving an undeniable legacy of violence against children. If Gov. Edwards’ veto stands, Louisiana will become a focused destination of “affirming” harm as state after state puts the brakes on this troubling ideology.
Take action and call for a veto override!
State lawmakers have until Thursday, July 13, 2023, to decide whether to enter a veto override session. If they agree to do so, it will convene on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. HB648 passed during the General Session in the Senate by a vote of 29-10 and the House by a vote of 75-25. A veto override is possible, but it will take people like you and me to urge our state legislators to call for a veto override session.
Please email, call, or tweet your State Representative and Senator through our Action Center HERE and urge them to stand on the side of children and call for a veto override session.
Pray
Heavenly Father, we are confident that You sovereignly place every leader in their positions and that You have ordained the days for which You use them for Your purposes. By Your mighty hand, we pray that You would be merciful to our state to work in the hearts of those to whom You give authority. Whether in conflict or unity, we are confident that You are implementing Your plan and accomplishing Your will. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
