Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Louisiana’s 2020 Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) Project had one of the largest groups of EAL volunteers we have ever had in the many years we have sponsored this project. Surely there has never been a more critical time to encourage our elected officials! We yearned to strengthen them as we prayed for them to take a more courageous stand for the cause of liberty and righteousness, and hopefully this included those who did not agree with us in ideology. May each official fully realize we covered them in prayer – not challenging them by any political perspective – but affirming them in such a way that they were edified and encouraged.
Thank you, Debbie Hoehl, our EAL Coordinator and the 82 people who volunteered this year! 144 elected officials were covered in all. Through this unusual session, several legislators responded and expressed their appreciation for the spiritual support and prayer of CWA of Louisiana EAL volunteers.
Legislative Update
- Louisiana’s state legislature wrapped up its 2020 legislative session on Monday, June 1, at 6:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19, the regular session was abruptly cut short. The state legislature began a First Extraordinary Session on Monday, June 1, at 6:01 p.m. and will adjourn on June 30, at 6:00 p.m.
- Pray: Please continue to keep the Louisiana state legislature in your prayers as they move forward and work on our behalf to finish the necessary legislation for 2020.
“… being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
Volunteer Opportunities
We have several ways to volunteer with CWA of Louisiana. Do any of these sound like you?
- Do you desire to see our country radically affected through the energized efforts of prayer warriors? Consider starting a Prayer/Action Chapter in your community or forming a social media and email team to communicate CWA of Louisiana alerts by volunteering as a Home Team Captain.
- Do you enjoy the legislative process and have a desire to work on family-related and pro-life issues here in Louisiana? Consider becoming a Legislative Liaison to coordinate our response to legislation through our state alerts, thus encouraging members to write, e-mail, and call to testify on bills related to our seven core issues. Training is provided.
Please contact me by e-mail or phone (504) 236-8546 if you have an interest in more information on joining our CWA of Louisiana team.
Anchored in Christ,
