In the U.S., we still have the relative freedom to pursue alternative treatments and research cures, unlike the case of Charlie Gard that we have been talking about this week.
But we are in danger of falling down the path of socialized medicine in a very tangible way.
Have you ever heard of ObamaCare’s Independent Payment Advisory Board? IPAB, as it is known, was modeled after the British system that just gave us the sad case of little Charlie Gard.
IPAB cannot technically “ration” care, but it can control prices. It can choose to drive Medicare payments for any service so low that it no longer becomes possible for doctors to offer it to their patients.
We must repeal IPAB, now!
