Dear CWA of Washington Friends,
Greetings for a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a most HAPPY NEW YEAR from Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Washington! We appreciate you and your support all year long, but especially as the Christian world celebrates the REAL REASON FOR THE SEASON, CHRIST JESUS, born as a child in a humble manger. His unending grace and mercy spread to all who believe in God’s plan of salvation for all of mankind. What a loving God we have! Our Father God knows that love cannot be forced; therefore, He allows us to make the choice to receive His only begotten Son and to experience the love, joy, peace, and relationship that all flow from that choice. What a God we serve!
PRAYER!
Pray for our nation. CWA is making plans for the New Year in order to represent you and your pro-family Biblical values. We encourage you to continue to pray for America’s restoration to our religious heritage and for protection of God’s design for the family, as well as our other Core Issues.
Pray within a CWA Prayer/Action Chapter. Look for a Prayer/Action Chapter in your community on our state webpage. If there is not a chapter nearby, please consider becoming a Prayer/Action Leader! I have been one for many years and so enjoy meeting with faithful prayer warriors. In fact, we had our Christmas luncheon this week and the prayers, fellowship and food were all such an encouragement! We Christians have such an awesome opportunity to pray together for our nation, our state and our families – don’t you want to be a part of that?
Pray for a state legislator. Lift up one of our state legislators in prayer by joining our 2017 Encourage-A-Legislator campaign! Washington has 147 legislators (49 senators and 98 representatives). Would you commit to adopt one of them and pray for him or her daily during the ninety-day session from January until April, 2017? The program would also require that you send your legislator a weekly postcard (we will provide) with a handwritten personal note. This short note will be a Scripture verse or quote (we will provide suggestions) as an expression of appreciation for his or her service in the legislature, sharing that you are praying. The cards are never used to lobby the legislator. Click here for more information.
EDUCATION
Respond to our educational e-alerts. CWA begins with prayer, then seeks to educate our members on our Seven Core Issues. Our monthly and weekly (during the legislative session) alerts are written to keep you up-to-date on those issues and how you can make a difference through prayer and action. Please feel free to share those alerts with other concerned citizens. If you are not signed up for e-alerts, go to CWFA.org and fill in your information under “Stay Informed!”
Regularly listen to our “Capitol Hill Briefings.” CWA CEO and President Penny Nance has started giving daily “Capitol Hill Briefs” on the radio. To learn more or to sign up to receive them in your inbox, click here; you can also find out where to listen on your local radio station here.
ACTION
Watch for opportunities to get involved! As James reminds us, faith without action is dead; so, please consider what you might do to promote Biblical values in our culture in order to protect your family. We will be announcing activities in our January alert.
Give a gift today. Consider giving a year-end gift by sending a check to the address below. Write it out to “Concerned Women for America” and put “CWA of Washington” in the memo line. Or, donate online under my picture on our webpage.
A CHILD IS BORN!
That is such a simple statement, yet so profound when we remember how much the birth of any child changes everything in a family, much less how much the birth of the Christ Child changed our world! Have a wonderful Christmas season. We are so blessed to know the true REASON FOR THE SEASON! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
In His Service,
Maureen Richardson
