On one of the darkest days in modern American history, many American women became what pollsters now call “security moms” and a necessary demographic for presidential hopefuls in 2016. The morning of September 11, 2001, my oldest child was at preschool, while my 11-month-old son napped peacefully in his crib. That peace was shattered by a booming noise three miles away as flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
On September 11, many moms finally woke up and understood that “peace through strength” was an essential doctrine and politicians were suddenly hearing from women who grasped the need to focus not only on domestic issues, but national security and foreign policy as well. Unfortunately, President Obama’s leadership has turned out to be hopeless.
