Legislative Update for June 22, 2012

With all eyes on the Supreme Court waiting for the ObamaCare ruling, the anticipation is prolonged yet another week.

This week’s attention was consumed by a Congressional panel, which has found Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Click here to read the details. Also, the House will likely bring this to the House floor next week.If a majority in the House approves the resolution of contempt, it will fall to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia to enforce the subpoena.

Sen. Vitter (R- Louisiana) introduced the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) in the Senate this week. Despite the disappointing outcome of the House’s attempt to pass the bill, even though there were more than enough votes to pass the bill, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) is continuing its efforts to see this bill passed. Worldwide, an estimated 163 million baby girls have been aborted. It is astounding that in a country where federal and state laws prohibit discrimination basis on sex in various contexts – such as employment, education, and housing – abortions are still being performed based entirely on the fact that the child is a female.
