The dust may have seemed to settle a bit over the past few days since the ruling on the government takeover of American health care came down, but I cannot help but think of the timing of the latest misuse of government power last week as we are less than a day away from celebrating the Independence Americans fought so hard to gain. We are slowly losing that freedom, and I wonder if we are aware of it? The early Congressional leaders of America had the wonderful habit of calling upon God Almighty frequently as this young nation struggled for freedom and thereafter. If was often the norm to call for a day of prayer and fasting, and Providence was evident upon this nation. We have now in the public square, through laws and apathy, left God behind, and we should not be surprised to see the results as they show themselves in the current policies of socialism and attacks on religious freedoms.
Chief Justice Roberts said in part that this was not to be taken as a ruling on the legislation since that is not the job of the courts. He said that it can be either good or bad legislation, but that decision was to be made by the American people at the polls if they don’t like the job their representatives were doing.
Thus the responsibility falls on the shoulders of you and me, the American voter. Do we go to the polls to vote for principles of freedom, free enterprise, religion, for life, to make our own decisions about how we live our own lives? Or do we throw up our hands in despair and sit at home thinking we can’t make a difference or “my vote doesn’t count”!
Benjamin Franklin was asked by a lady after he participated in the writing of the Constitution, “Well, Doctor, what have we got – a republic or a monarchy?” His answer rings in my ears today, “A Republic if you can keep it.” Today, as at other critical times in history, that challenge sits clearly in the air, as the very essence of the Constitutional Representative Republic is being chipped away by government overreach. There is little doubt that November 6th will be the most important election of our day an election that will determine your future and that of your children and grandchildren for years to come, and Obama and the anti-family, anti-faith radicals that are doing his bidding aren’t going to go quietly.
Last week was a vivid reminder about the responsibility of each citizen in America to act in a definite and responsible way to provide guidance for our country’s leadership through the ballot box. The condition in which we find ourselves cannot be blamed on anything other than the American people who in their selfish indifference and indulgence bestowed leadership on people who then misused the responsibility.
More of the same is headed our way unless people become educated about the issues and activated at the polls.
Become a leader in your community! Educate people about the issues; guide them to pray about the issues; provide productive action suggestions. You can do it! Contact our state office, and we will show you how. We make it easy! Concerned Women for America just launched a million-dollar nationwide project to get out the vote in the November general election called She Votes 2012. Check it out at SheVotes2012.org.
Go to ConcernedWomen.org and find out how you can join us in the fight for the liberties and values on which America was founded. Tell your friends, neighbors, work associates, and parishioners to do the same. Make sure conservative voters get to the polls in November educated on the issues important to them!

Concerned Women for America has been standing up for our Christian principles in public policy since 1979. We have been fighting for “life, liberty”, and the right to pursue happiness daily. We need your help to continue standing guard and doing the work that must be done to protect the freedoms we still have and work towards restoring the ones we have lost.
What an exciting time and opportunity for each of us to be part of reviving and restoring America! We can no longer just manage the decay we see in our nation; we need sudden and relentless reform. We should not put our trust or faith in one person or candidate, but rather in the God in whom our forefathers put not only their trust but their faith for freedom and liberty of an entire nation. Time tested Truth will never fail. You can play a critical role in helping change the trajectory of our nation.
Join me as CWA of North Dakota through the project of She Votes 2012 seeks to educate and empower conservatives to make a difference!
Help us turn America around. It is not too late!
