BE DILIGENT IN PRAYER
Dear CWA of Washington Members,
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16) CWA of Washington is praying with you that God’s plan for man will prevail amongst the political correctness of this world. There is nothing new under the sun, as King Solomon advised us, and we must not grow weary of doing good works if we are to be counted among God’s faithful servants.
With that in mind, once again, CWA of Washington urges you to oppose HB 1267 and HB 1649 and to contact your state Senators TODAY to urge them to oppose those two bills, remembering to “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Colossians 4:5-6)
OPPOSE HB 1267 AND 1649!
Neither the U.S. Constitution nor the Constitution of the State of Washington provides a “right” to marriage or families. Contrary to media coverage and testimony at legislative hearings, HB 1267 and 1649 ARE NOT about rights or discrimination, but instead are a full-frontal assault by a tiny minority of gay couples in the state of Washington to impose their views on the overwhelming majority of citizens and take away our constitutionally guaranteed rights to freedom of speech and of religion.
HB 1267 will REDEFINE THE FAMILY in the state of Washington to make it easier and more convenient for homosexual and lesbian couples to establish a family because, according to testimony supporting this bill, it’s too inconvenient and too costly for homosexuals to go through the legal adoption process as millions of heterosexual couples are required to do. This bill makes it legal to compensate a woman to bear and deliver a child and that child is literally purchased, leaving the woman with no parental rights except abortion and declaring the buyers the legal parents of the child upon birth. This is NOT in the best interest of the child or the mother-child relationship. While we have compassion for infertile heterosexual couples, they already have access to fertility treatments and adoption of already born or “Snowflake” babies.
HB 1649, the reciprocity bill, will legally recognize same-sex unions from other jurisdictions and thus pave the way for legal recognition of gay marriage for all residents in the state of Washington. This will cause our state to become another magnet for those who seek to destroy marriage as originally created between one man and one woman with the primary purpose of creating future generations.
The passage of these two bills will inevitably be used to restrict the First Amendment rights to the practice of religion and free speech of Christians, Jews, and other religions who believe that homosexuality is an unholy, unnatural behavior. This has already happened wherever homosexuality is promoted as both natural and moral and homosexual marriage as a good for society, equivalent to heterosexual marriage. Government, including the public schools, and the media are already promoting these concepts to our children and our grandchildren with sensitivity training classes mandated for all despite their moral and religious convictions. The consequence of this policy is that those of us who believe otherwise are called old-fashioned, narrow-minded, bigoted, hateful, and many other unprintable names.
