Elitism of the Left

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The leftist elites have stooped to a shocking, all-time low. A new Penn State University study claims, “The number of Wal-Mart stores in a county is significantly correlated with the number of hate groups in the area.” Yes, you heard that right. Apparently those “crazy Wal-Mart shoppers” are ticking time bombs. The study goes on to suggest “that because Wal-Mart promotes typical Protestant values, such as savings and thrift, the cues may lead customers to adopt other beliefs, including intolerant attitudes.” Are they kidding?

The fact that Penn State, an all-American University, attached its name to this study is outrageous. Didn’t Penn State get enough hate mail a few months ago after the Joe Paterno ordeal relating to his assistant’s child abuse case? Penn State must have had to do amazing mathematical gymnastics to correlate that the hard-working families who shop at Wal-Mart are members of hate groups. But that’s the trouble with leftist elites. They hold fast to their egotism and preconceived notions, dismissing everyone who opposes their ideologies as ignorant and bigoted.

The mostly women shoppers who spend their hard earned money at Wal-Mart sit down every week with a calculator and checkbook and make really tough budget cuts. In fact, women make 85 percent of the purchasing decisions in this country.

Let me remind the liberal elites that it is those same women who shop at Wal-Mart who raise healthy families and (gasp!) sometimes forego that extra pay check as stay-at-home moms to invest in the next generation.

Additionally, they are essential to their communities as the volunteer base and good citizens that create cohesive healthy neighborhoods. Nothing about the lives of American women who shop at Wal-Mart correlates to hate groups, but this study does correlate with left wing propaganda and elitism.

Unsurprisingly, the Penn State study relied on data from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to support their claims. Supposedly, the SPLC found 1,018 active hate groups in the United States in 2011. The Southern Poverty Law Center fought for civil rights once upon a time. Unfortunately, they went off the rails a while back and sold out to shill for the homosexual lobby, which notoriously uses intimidation and harassment like a bludgeon on anyone who speaks out against “gay marriage.”

Interestingly, the SPLC’s website defines a hate group as any group that has “beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.” When I think of a hate group, I automatically think of the Ku Klux Klan and the New Black Panther Party, not the Christian Promises Ministry as dubbed by SPLC.

Liberal elites use “intolerant” and “hate group” to describe anyone who holds conservative values. Well, they need to look in the mirror. In the wake of the Obama Administration’s assault on religious liberties, the April 16 episode of “The Daily Show” saw host Jon Stewart malign Christians by featuring a sexually explicit picture of a naked woman with her legs spread and a nativity scene covering her genitalia. Stewart’s intentions were meant to demean under the guise of a filthy joke. Yes, call me intolerant. I will never tolerate the exploitative depiction of any woman and Stewart’s use of our religion to degrade us.

But Stewart knows he can get away with this smut, because the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) won’t touch him, and the liberal cable networks are on his side. But that’s the beauty of the purchasing power Wal-Mart women hold. If there is one thing we learned from the Fluke/Limbaugh fiasco, sponsorship money speaks louder than words. For example, religious and civil rights organizations are calling on Kraft Foods, one of Stewart’s major supporters, to withdraw all sponsorship from the comedy news show.

When will the liberal elites practice what they preach? Lately we’ve heard the Obama Administration preaching that government should stay out of the private affairs of women. Ironically, this only holds true in certain areas — and I’m not just talking about the contraceptive mandate. Currently, the Obama Administration just proposed — and, under enormous public outcry, withdrew — a bill that would have prevented rural children from doing chores on their family farms. The Daily Caller reports that under the rules, children under the age of 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.” For many farmers, the help of the family supports their livelihood. Additionally, farm work instills strong work ethics and teaches responsibility to our children. Next, the left will prohibit parents from instructing kids to make their beds and brush their teeth.

Yes, Wal-Mart women are different from the liberal elites in many ways. They certainly are conservative, fiscally responsible, intelligent, pro-family, pro-life women who will sacrifice, scrimp and save for the well-being of their families. Might I add, we don’t judge others based on their grocery store preferences? We raise children. We aren’t children.

At the end of the day, liberal elites have no right to judge stay-at-home moms, Wal-Mart women, or farm wives and their families. These women are essential in the foundational fabric of our nation. Our country is in trouble, and it is these conservative women who are passing down the ideas of patriotism, liberty, and economic freedom to their children so that our country can continue to prosper.

Take my advice, liberal elites. Don’t mess with Wal-Mart women.
