WASHINGTON, DC – A national poll commissioned by the Concerned Women for America (CWA) regarding midterm election issues found wide support for fairness in women’s sports; an FDA requirement for in-person doctor’s visits to dispense the abortion drug; policies to make it easier for mothers to afford to stay home with young children; creating a marijuana roadside test, and wide opposition to gender transition services for minors. Additional poll data include results on prescription drug prices, the gender wage gap, and Netflix’s children’s content.
“Candidates running for office this year must recognize that voters are widely supportive of protecting women’s health, the ability to raise children, fairness in women’s sports, protecting children from gender transitions and from TV content with LGBTQ themes. We are encouraged by the poll results, especially in this politically divisive time. This poll should serve as a roadmap for conservative candidates,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.
Major Findings:
- Over 67% (67.6%) definitely or probably believe that the FDA should again require an in-person doctor’s visit before dispensing the abortion drug. (Men 68.9% v. Women 66.2%)
- Over 63% (63.9%) somewhat or strongly oppose allowing gender transition services, including puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones, to be dispensed to minors under 18 years of age. (Men 62% v. Women 66%)
- Over 69% (69.3%) believe it is very or somewhat important in deciding who to vote for in this election that candidates oppose forcing female athletes to participate in sports and share locker rooms with biological boys/men identifying as girls/women. (Men 71.5% v. Women 67.3%)
- 60% definitely or probably believe it is concerning that a recent survey found that 40% of Netflix shows that are rated for children contain LGBTQ+ themes, characters, and storylines. (Men 62.3% v. Women 57.8%)
- Over 44% (44.8%) believe that the gender wage gap is primarily caused by workplace discrimination against women (Men 35% v. Women 54%); over 22% (22.3%) believe it is primarily explained by the personal choices women make (Men 30.6% v. Women 14.5%); over 18% (18.5%) do not believe a significant wage gap exists (Men 22.6% v. Women 14.8%).
- Over 79% (79.6%) definitely or probably believe that government policies should make it easier for mothers to afford to stay home with young children if they choose to. (Men 73.2% v. Women 89.3%)
- 79% definitely or probably believe that companies that pay for abortion services in their health policy or travel for an abortion should also help with employee childcare for those women who choose to give birth to their child. (Men 77.8% v. Women 79.8%)
- Over 54% (54.4%) somewhat or strongly oppose tying U.S. prescription drug prices to countries where the government controls drug prices by limiting access to treatments based on the government’s perceived value of a person’s life. (Men 50.5% v. Women 58.3%)
- Over 69% (69.4%) strongly or somewhat support the marijuana industry being forced to create a roadside test for driving under the influence of marijuana products, similar to a breathalyzer test for alcohol. (Men 69.2% v. Women 69.6%)
- *Poll respondents ranked the following issues “most important,” “extremely important,” “very important,” or “quite important” to them as voters:
- Grocery prices: 88.7%
- Crime and public safety in your community: 77.4%
- National security and foreign policy: 74.7%
- Religious liberty and freedom of expression: 68%
- Protecting children from gender ideology: 59.7%
- Education and Parental rights in schools: 59%
- Border Security and Immigration: 59%
- Protecting the unborn and reproductive policy: 53.1%
About: Zogby Analytics conducted an online survey of 1,003 likely voters in the US between July 1-4, 2026. Based on a confidence interval of 95%, the margin of error for 1,003 is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
*Subsets of the data have a larger margin of error than the whole data set; in this case, the data is more qualitative than quantitative.
