20th Annual Day at the Capitol – June 9

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Carolina is excited to announce our 20th Annual Day at the Capitol in Raleigh on Wednesday, June 9! Joining us again this year will be our friends at the North Carolina Values Coalition.

We hope you will mark your calendar and join us in Raleigh to:

  • Lobby on important issues.
  • Hear from guest speakers North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson and Mario Diaz, Esq., General Counsel for Concerned Women for America (CWA) in Washington, D.C.
  • Visit legislative offices and sit in on a legislative session.
  • Attend our prayer service and more!

Schedule for the Day

8:45 a.m. Registration at tent on Halifax Mall (on the grounds behind Legislative Building)
9:15 a.m. Call to Order
9:30 a.m. Speakers: Lt. Governor Mark Robinson and Mario Diaz, Esq., General Counsel, CWA, Washington, D.C.
10:15 a.m. Legislative briefing for bills we will be lobbying (details later). Receive talking points on each bill to distribute to your legislators.
10:40 a.m. Visit your state representative* and senator as well as other legislators speaking on issues and distributing Mary Frances Forrester’s recently published book.**
12:30 p.m. Attend the prayer service in the legislative Chapel Room hosted by CWA leaders. Legislators will also join us!
1:30 p.m. Sit in on a legislative session.
Enjoy lunch on your own with fellow attendees at the General Assembly Cafeteria.

*Make an appointment with your state senator and representative for some time between 10:45 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. Do not know who your legislators are? Click here to find out. If you have never visited with your legislators’ offices before, we provide guidance and talking points during the briefing and, if you let us know in advance, we will pair you up with others.

**We will also be distributing to North Carolina legislators CWA of North Carolina Associate Director Mary Frances Forrester’s newly published book, “For Such a Time as This: The Life of Senator James Forrester And His Fight for Marriage in North Carolina.” This is the remarkable legacy of her late husband, Sen. Jim Forrester, and his life and fight for traditional marriage in North Carolina.
