An American version of the British television series Skin debuted on MTV on January 17. The series was called “the most dangerous program ever” for children by the Parents Television Council. It fulfilled that prediction with a show, created by teens with teen actors and aimed at a teen audience, full of teen sex, violence, and drug and alcohol abuse. Melissa Henson, Director of Communications and Public Education for the Parents Television Council, discusses this series, its danger to children, its impact on future television offerings, and what concerned citizens need to do about it.
