Several weeks ago, I wrote to you about the grassroots efforts to overturn two very bad bills signed into law: L.D. 820, the taxpayer-funded abortion bill, and L.D. 1313, the physician-assisted suicide bill. CWA of Maine is joining forces with several pro-life organizations and groups to overturn the bills through a People’s Veto. You can read my interview with Breitbart News concerning the People’s Veto here.
Overturning L.D. 820 and L.D. 1313 is an enormous task. We need 80,000 signatures of registered voters in Maine on a petition for each bill. The petitions must be submitted to the Secretary of State’s office within three months from the adjournment date of the Maine legislature. The legislature adjourned June 20, 2019, so the clock is ticking.
This week, I received the Peoples’ Veto petition for L.D. 820 from the Secretary of State and am now ready to gather the needed signatures to overturn the legislation (as seen to the left). Our coalition also received the petition for L.D. 1313 from the Secretary of State. The task at hand is worthy of our time, effort, and financial sacrifice which is why I am writing to you today.
We estimate the cost of printing the L.D. 820 petition and my travel around the state to distribute the petitions and train activists on how to properly collect signatures for the petitions to be approximately $2000. Would you consider making a special contribution to offsetting these costs? Your investment is cultivating a culture for life in the state of Maine.
Please pray and ask God what He would have you give to help us overturn these horrible anti-life bills passed by the Maine legislature this year. You can contribute two ways: donate online or send a check written out to “Concerned Women for America” with “CWA of Maine” on the memo line to CWA of Maine, 864 Manchester Rd., Belgrade, ME 04917. If you contribute online, please email me and let me know that you have done so and how much. This will ensure your donation will be put towards this project immediately.
Please Pray: Dear Father, we ask that You supply the necessary funds to accomplish the task at hand. We also ask that You stir the hearts of the people of Maine to sign the petitions. Thank You for Your promise in Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.” In Jesus’ Name. Amen
To God be the glory, great things He has done. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you in this very important overturning of L.D. 820, the taxpayer-funded abortion bill and L.D. 1313, the physician-assisted suicide bill.
