If you are a citizen of Alaska, please join Penny in signing this letter to Sen. Murkowski telling her you support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and asking her to take a position for or against.  This matter is urgent, so please SIGN today!

  • Dear Sen. Murkowski,

On Monday, February 25, you were absent for an important vote on a motion to proceed to S. 311, the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.  While this was a procedural vote, it is widely understood to have been a vote taking a position on the legislation itself.  Every senator speaking on the floor made that clear.  You are the only member of the U.S. Senate not to have taken a position on this legislation.

Concerned Women for America is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization.  Our members and supporters in Alaska are joining together with other groups and citizens of Alaska to ask for your position on S. 311.  Certainly, it is our hope and prayer that you support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which speaks to the very dignity of human life.  This legislation is about the responsibility of medical professionals in caring for a newborn survivor of abortion.  That child is a patient and deserves the care and compassion given any other child born alive.  Unfortunately, this legislation is needed, because these cases are real.

This is a defining moment in America about how our nation values human life.  Recent polling shows over 80 percent of Americans oppose withholding life-saving care from a child born alive, including 77 percent identifying as pro-choice.  Sen. Tim Scott, a cosponsor of S.311 who missed the vote due to weather delays, said it clearly on the Senate floor the day after the vote: “This is common sense; this is human decency.  This is not an issue of being pro-life or pro-choice.  This is being pro-child.”

If you remain undecided on this legislation, then make that clear, but we appeal to you that your responsibility to the citizens of Alaska is to go on record one way or another.  We ask you to join your colleagues in taking a stand for or against the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
