WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America (CWA) said that the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) forthcoming reported ban on biological men competing in female sports is the only way to ensure fair competition.
IOC’s new President Kirsty Coventry has “promised to protect the female category,” according to The Times.
“The IOC will make a tremendous step to protect women’s sports if the reported ban on biological men comes to fruition. This is common-sense protection for female athletes who have had their careers and lives altered – and ruined – by trans-identifying men competing against them,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.
“The IOC will be taking a just position to protect fairness in women’s sports, though it’s absurd that biological realities have to be defended at all. We encourage the IOC to follow through to enact the reported ban and to stand by the principle that women’s sport is for female athletes only,” Nance said.
CWA recently called on United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) CEO Sarah Hirshland to resign over her failure to fully commit to preventing biological men from competing in women’s sports.
United Nations data showed that females lost nearly 900 medals to trans-identifying male athletes in women’s sports.
Concerned Women for America research found that trans-identifying males have stolen over 1,941 gold medals from women and girls in the United States. Additionally, trans-identifying male athletes have stolen over $493,173 in prize money from women in professional sports.
