PRAYER
Our Secret Weapon
Prayer is the secret weapon available to all Christians. It is our “doing part” of communication with our commander-in-chief in the “war of the worlds;” the battle imitating Elijah’s “show-down” on Mount Carmel. The battle is being played out in the unseen world and in men’s hearts and minds; we need to be on our knees if we expect to have victory.
After Elijah had his mighty victory, he found out that Jezebel was not too pleased about all of her prophets and priests being shown up by God and killed by Elijah, and she issued an order for his death. In our own battle with the “gods of this world” we have to understand that our unseen enemies do not want to see us prevail and they will attack our minds to discourage us. Elijah suffered this discouragement and fear after his mighty victory and went off by himself to die in peace. We can just imagine him curled up in a fetal position under the juniper tree because we have all been there, too.
God did not leave him there; He nourished him and strengthened him and spoke to him, not in an earthquake; not in the fire or wind, but in a gentle blowing like a breeze. He listened to Elijah’s complaints and then encouraged him by revealing that He had 7000 more besides Elijah that had not bowed the knee to Baal.
We are not alone in the battle; God has raised up many more who will pray and fast for our state and our nation. Won’t you start a Prayer/Action Chapter or join one so that you too can hear God’s voice in the gentle blowing of His wisdom and encouragement?

Through our Encourage-A-Legislator program, individuals “adopt” a state legislator and commit to pray for him/her daily and to send weekly postcards of encouragement during the legislative session. If you are interested in this extremely important activity, contact us, and we will assign a legislator to you. The legislators are really blessed by this encouragement, and many of the “encouragers” have expressed what a blessing it is to them, too!
