State Legislation

The fall-out from the Marriage Amendment to the state constitution continues. There will be many new faces in the Kansas Legislature next session, either by attrition, retirement, or by designs of the voters. Many good legislators are resigning this year and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for sacrifices made to the state and to the people of Kansas. We know that it is a sacrifice to spend four months at the Capitol away from home, family, job, etc., to serve the people of Kansas. Many have considered this a ministry; however, for whatever reason God has allowed them to withdraw. We thank Him and them for the blessing they have been.

On a sad note, one of our conservative senators, Stan Clark, was killed in a tragic accident several weeks ago. Sen. Clark was unfailingly fair, civil, and steadfast in his dealings on the Senate floor. He never raised his voice and he never stooped to petty methods to make his views known. He simply continued on the path set before him. Truly, he did exemplify Hebrews 12:1-2.

The thing foremost on our minds this summer is that people register to vote and that they vote in BOTH the primary and the general election in the fall. The presidential election is a crucial one by the mere fact that the ideas expressed by the two presumed candidates are so diverse. There truly is a difference in the philosophy of the candidates so it is essential that the people have their say.

The state elections are equally important . . . right down to the precinct level. The precinct positions are remarkably more important than one would suppose. Many crucial decisions are made at the precinct level. Inform and arm yourselves with all the candidates positions and promises and rely upon the Holy Spirit to guide you as you vote. The primary is SO important because this is the time that you actually do have a say in the candidates.

Dont neglect to vote August 3! This is your BEST CHANCE to influence policy in Kansas.

Make sure that you and other Christians that you know, are registered to vote!
