Graduation Rates Low in Large City Schools

A report released by America’s Promise Alliance shows that public schools in major cities are in trouble. Seventeen of the nation’s 50 largest cities had high school graduation rates lower than 50 percent. In contrast, suburban and rural public high schools were more likely to have students graduate. Dr. Janice Crouse, Senior Fellow and Director of CWA’s Beverly LaHaye Institute, discusses this alarming trend and its underlying causes.
