• Please tell your senators:

    1) There is very little oversight or safeguards required by current assisted suicide laws, leaving the door open to malpractice, coercion, and elder abuse.

    2) Assisted suicide may allow insurance companies to deny treatment to individuals with chronic or serious illnesses. Some patients may decide that suicide is their only affordable option.

    3) Current legislation defines “terminally ill” as an incurable, irreversible disease. That definition leaves non-fatal conditions like diabetes, thyroid conditions, and more eligible for assisted suicide.
