Capitol Hill Brief — Prayer and Action

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief, Planned Parenthood, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

What was my focus as I spoke to the tens of thousands of women gathered here in Washington, D.C., to pray for our nation?  The sin of abortion.  We repented before the Lord, and we asked for His mercy upon us.  I even led them in a chant for “no more abortion”:

[Audio Clip] Penny Nance: No more abortion! No more abortion! No more abortion!

But in true Concerned Women for America fashion, I also asked them take action, as I want to ask you also to do.  We must call our senators and ask them to vote on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

United in prayer and action, we can truly see an end to the evil of abortion in our lifetime.

Capitol Hill Brief — United As One

I told you yesterday about a powerful prayer event held in Washington, D.C., where tens of thousands of women gathered to pray for our nation.

I was there with my good friend, Alveda King, the niece of American civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., and I was moved when Alveda prayed passionately for racial unity.

She called us back to the Scripture in Acts 17:26, where Paul tells us God “has made from one blood every nation of men. …”

It was a powerful moment for me to look at the crowd and see thousands of women from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, joining hands, united as one. This is what Concerned Women for America strives for. We believe in prayer and action.

Capitol Hill Brief — Why a 20-Week Ban?

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Are you still not sure what “20 weeks of gestation” means when it comes to pregnancy and abortion? Here’s an excerpt from the “15 to 20 weeks of pregnancy” video at BabyCenter.com.

[Audio Clip] Between 15 and 20 weeks, your baby will more than double in size. His nerves are connecting his brain to the rest of his body. Sensory development is picking up speed. Your baby’s brain is designating special areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. At this stage, your baby may be able to hear your heartbeat and voice, so read aloud or sing a happy tune.

They can hear, and they can feel.

Capitol Hill Brief — An Impassioned Plea

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Representative Martha Roby from Alabama spoke passionately for the unborn as the House considered the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Here’s a clip:

[Audio Clip] Rep. Martha Roby: We’re here to speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves; we’re here to defend those who can’t defend themselves. Our bill seeks to do this by restricting abortions after 20 weeks, or at the sixth month of pregnancy, the point at which research shows the unborn baby can feel pain. What’s the difference between a baby born at six months outside the womb and a baby at six months inside the womb?

Now it’s time for senators to stand and speak for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Capitol Hill Brief — CWA Leadership 2017

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief | No Comments

We recently held Concerned Women for America’s annual Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. It was a great event where conservative women from around the country came together to learn about the most pressing issues of the day from the top conservative voices in our country.

We were at the Capital on Thursday, first hearing from people like Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley from Iowa and Sen. Ted Cruz from Texas. Our ladies then went to meet with their senators. Finally we concluded the day with a briefing at the White House where they heard from the likes of U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price and Presidential Advisor Kellyanne Conway. That was just day 1!

Capitol Hill Brief — The Power of Unity

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief, Religious Liberty, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of dining with the president at the White House, alongside a small group of conservative leaders. It was a great opportunity to make your voice heard at the highest levels of government. You can rest assured I spoke to him about all our concerns and had the opportunity to hear his vision for the country, too.

Such an opportunity does not come by luck. It is a result of divine Providence, but also a great testament to you and to the impact we can have when conservative women work together to lift their voices in unison.

So, if you’ve not joined Concerned Women for America yet, today is the day, and we need you!

Capitol Hill Brief — Support YWA

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief | No Comments

All week, we’ve been letting you know about Concerned Women for America’s Young Women for America college chapters.  We are building a foundation in our young women that will withstand the test of time. The unity we are seeing is key:

[Audio Clip] Hi! This is Courtney from Missouri. My favorite thing about CWA is the fact that these women are from all different backgrounds and all different religions, and it’s just so great that we all get to come together and find common ground and find common issues that we all want to fight together.

So, if you are a college student, you can join. If not, you can support them in many ways. Everyone has a part to play. Just don’t stay on the sidelines.

Capitol Hill Brief — Investing in the Future

By | Blog, Capitol Hill Brief | No Comments

Concerned Women for America’s Young Women for America college chapters are about investing in the next generation of conservative women leaders. At our recent Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., they got to hear from some of the top conservative voices in our nation.  Here is what one leader had to say:

[Audio Clip] … My favorite part of the CWA conference was meeting the older generation of CWA and seeing how it was founded, and how to continue the legacy that they built.

This beautiful relationship of the more experienced women pouring into the young will yield incredible benefits for our nation. The time to fight for our future is now.

You’ve been hearing this week the voices of Concerned Women for America’s Young Women for America college chapter leaders.  Here are some more of them:

[Audio Clip] Hey, this is Julie from Florida State University … My name is Claire Stites, and I’m from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. … [Julie] I came to the CWA conference to Connect with likeminded women from college campuses around the nation, and that’s been my favorite part so far. … [Claire] My favorite part of the conference was being able to be around other women who are not only fighting for the truth but standing for the truth and fighting for freedom.”

God is moving in mighty ways through our Young Women for America program. Tell any young, conservative college student to join us today at ConcernedWomen.org.
