US Supreme Court Ruling on Child Rapists Troubling

This week the U.S. Supreme Court issued an opinion stating that child rapists can’t be executed for the crime. While CWA does not take a position on the death penalty, which is at the heart of this case, we do take exception to the majority opinion statement, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy. Kennedy wrote that the majority opinion takes into account our nation’s “evolving standards of decency.” Dr. Janice Crouse, Senior Fellow and Director of CWA’s Beverly LaHaye Institute, has more on what makes that language so troubling.
