Truth & Freedom: You Shall Know the Truth, and the Truth Shall Make You Free

Dear CWA of Washington Member,

Truth? Who defines it? Freedom? Who gives it? Where do these two concepts originate?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36

I am the way, the truth, and the life. John 14:6

What happens when the majority rejects the statements above? Does the minority lose its unalienable rights, particularly First Amendment rights? We are currently witnessing at both the state and federal levels what happens when the government refuses to be held to the limitations put on it by the Constitution and Bill of Rights as well as the culture disintegrating to the point where good is called evil and evil is called good. This brings to mind CWA’s mission statement: The mission of CWA is to protect and promote Biblical values among all citizens-first through prayer, then education, and finally by influencing our society-thereby reversing the decline in moral values in our nation.

Prayer is first, then education. CWA’s national website (https://concernedwomen.org/main.asp) has a plethora of articles to educate you on our six core issues (sanctity of life, family, education, religious liberty, pornography, national sovereignty). In Washington State, with regard to CWA’s core issue of family, as predicted during last year’s statewide campaign to rescind SB 6239 concerning marriage for same-sex couples, a private citizen and her business are now being sued by Washington State’s Attorney General Bob Ferguson (360-753-6200) because she has gently refused to provide flowers for a same-sex wedding ceremony based on her religious convictions: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2020743969_floristlawsuitxml.html. Arlene’s Flowers is a homegrown floral shop in Richland, Washington, whose owner exercised her First Amendment right to practice her religious beliefs and thereby brought down the full power of the AG’s office upon her business. Please pray for this situation and consider supporting Arlene’s Flowers any way you choose (http://www.arlenesflowers.net/). The AG’s office has a comment line where you can leave your polite response to this egregious intrusion of our state government into a private citizen’s conscience and business: 360-664-2162.

Prayer first, then education, then influencing: We need to pass the torch to our children and grandchildren if we are to see the survival of truth and freedom as delineated in the Holy Bible and America’s Declaration of Independence. Without an awareness of the source of truth and freedom (their Creator), the next generation will call good evil and evil good. CWA has created Young Women for America for such a time as this.
