Washington, D.C. – Today the Texas Health and Human Services Commission decided to drop Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid program. Concerned Women for America CEO and President Penny Nance had this to say:

“We applaud Gov. Abbott and the state of Texas for the great decision they made today, by ruling to drop Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid program. In the state of Texas alone, there are over 730 women’s health care centers in comparison to only 38 Planned Parenthood centers. It is plain to see Planned Parenthood is not a necessary resource for women’s health. Dropping Planned Parenthood from the Medicaid program is a huge step in the right direction, and we are encouraged by Texas’ dedication to uphold the sanctity of life and the protection of women’s health. We are grateful to the other states also in the fight for life and are eager to see them follow Texas’ lead.”
