Liberty University’s Concerned Woman for America (CWA) Chapter held an event honoring military veterans, active duty servicemen, and family members of troops on Monday, November 8, 2010. The event raised almost $900 which will be used to send care packages to our troops. Students Behind Our Soldiers! will see that these care packages are assembled and sent. They event featured six speakers. Two young ladies from Liberty shared how their lives were affected by their brothers being in the military; a few veterans and student in Liberty’s ROTC program shared their thoughts. Janet Robey, the state director of CWA of Virginia also shared her personal experiences with her son currently serving in the Air Force. Entertainment for the evening included the Liberty University jazz band playing World War II era big band music, student singers performing God Bless the USA, and Liberty University’s hip-hop dance team wearing camouflage and doing military style movements. The students attending signed a dedication from Liberty University to troops that will be displayed on campus.

Amanda Haas, President of the Liberty University Prayer/Action Chapter commented, “The great turn-out was the result of much prayer. God definitely had His hand over this event. I am so grateful it turned out so well and that our military men and women felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The Liberty students came away with a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices people make to keep America free!”
