PRESS RELEASE

CWALAC Supports Conservative Reforms for Combatting Poverty

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Concerned Women for America (CWA) President and CEO, Penny Nance, responds to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) presenting conservative reforms for combatting poverty,
saying in the brief statement below that there is a need to empower states to develop anti-poverty programs that suit their constituents’ needs:

“I want to congratulate Sen. Rubio for catalyzing a conversation about actual solutions to poverty in this country. He brings to light the importance of strong, healthy families as well as job growth for economic prosperity. CWA supports policies that encourage family formation and stability, upward economic mobility, and opportunity through education and job creation. In addition we must work to reform the over-intrusive and burdensome federal policies that smother entrepreneurship and job creation. We must embrace the importance of marriage and family in putting Americans on a pathway out of poverty.”
