Nance: “Concerned Women for America finds it striking that the nominee for Secretary of Defense is himself on the defense on a range of issues.”

Washington D.C. – Concerned Women for America CEO and President Penny Nance has issued the following statement on the nomination of former-Senator Chuck Hagel to Secretary of Defense in light of new details regarding allegations of misconduct in his Senate office in 2007:

“Former Senator Hagel should immediately disclose the information requested by the Senate Armed Services Committee. The allegation of an incident of sexual harassment amongst employees in his office is particularly distressing. Until his knowledge or lack thereof regarding this alleged incident can be clarified, it is our view that the committee should halt proceedings related to the confirmation of Mr. Hagel to the position of Secretary of Defense of the United States. Concerned Women for America finds it striking that the nominee for Secretary of Defense is himself on the defense regarding a lack of transparency on a range of issues from allegations of sexual harassment among his staff, disclosing financial records associated with his speeches, and his views on our allies overseas.”
