Pray and Take Action Concerning Obama’s Current Nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court

By | California | No Comments

Greetings CWA friends,

President Obama’s recent nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court requires our urgent prayer and action.  This is extremely important.  It may very well be the most significant thing we have prayed about for some time.

Prayer is our number one weapon; let’s use it!  Taking action is our second; let’s do it!

Judge Garland’s D.C. Circuit record proves that he would be a reliable fifth vote (or sixth, if you count Kennedy) for many extreme liberal priorities, like gutting the First and Second Amendment, unleashing the abortion industry (think legalizing partial-birth abortion), and helping to maintain unaccountable bureaucratic agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

“This is the most important battle of our lives.”  ~ CEO and President of CWA Penny Nance

  1. Pray that any selection or nomination President Obama makes to fill the vacancy in the Supreme Court of the United States will not be acted upon by the Senate.  Let’s pray for truth and justice in accordance with God’s will.
  2. Pray for the senators meeting with Judge Garland to be compassionate but forceful in expressing the deep concerns for our Constitutional Republic beyond the candidate himself (who has been caught in the middle of all this).
  3. Pray for Senators Boxer and Feinstein.  Pray that their efforts to support Garland will be thwarted and that they would come to the understanding of God’s love for them. Amen!

  1. Ask our U.S. Senators to not accept or vote on any nominations for the U.S. Supreme Court that are made by President Obama until after the elections and after the inauguration of the new President, whoever that may be.Though both our Senators, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, have been vocal in their support of Judge Garland, it is still very important to contact them.  They need to know that Californian’s oppose their support of this nominee (and any future nominee) until the election is said and done.

  1. Thank Senator Chuck Grassley (R – Iowa), Chairman of the Judiciary Committee for his commitment to not allow any nominees a hearing.  He needs our support now!

CWA of California Encourager-A-Legislator Participants Visit the State Capitol

By | California | No Comments

cookie2016Last week CWA of California Encourage-A-Legislator participants Patricia Thompson and Sandy Prosser stopped by the offices of several legislators to whom they have been personally sending encouraging postcards.  They gave them cookies and encouraged them with multiple Scriptures on peace and a poem about slowing down and resting in the Lord. While at the state capitol, they walked the halls and asked the Lord to draw the legislators to Himself and to seek His wisdom as they lead our great state.

If you are part of the Encourage-A-Legislator program, please do not grow weary in well doing.  Your words are words of life and encouragement.  They make a difference in the life of the legislator and the staffers.  Being a post card they are read by all.

CWA of California Recommends: Franklin Graham’s Decision America Event – March 31

By | California | No Comments

No Matter Who is President, Jesus is King.

Just thought I’d shoot a little perspective your way … and mine.  I saw a quote on a meme on Facebook during the last election, “No matter who is president, Jesus is King.” and my soul shouted a hearty, “Amen!” because elections can sure be depressing.  When the results of the last presidential election were final, I sat on the couch in my living room stunned.  Anyone else?  I felt like I had just been run over by a truck.  I was so grieved that I couldn’t sleep.  I just stayed on the couch all night in disbelief.

Maybe that’s just me because I have a curious obsession with the direction of our nation.  But, I have a feeling I am not alone in my grave concern for the well-being and endurance of the America our founders risked life, fortune, and sacred honor to secure.

If you have followed CWA for long, you know that we are all about prayer and action.  That is why CWA of California supports Franklin Graham’s Decision America Tour, and why we encourage you to rally with him at the State Capitol in Sacramento, or on your knees wherever you may be in prayer for this election, this nation, and the church on March 31, 2016.

“America is at a crossroads, and I believe we should take every opportunity to stand up for the things of God and His Word.” ~Franklin Graham

Support Parental Notification and the Fight Against Assisted Suicide in California at the Same Time!

By | California | No Comments

Do this!  Two birds with one stone.  You can stand for parental notification for abortion and against assisted suicide with one petition drive!

URGENTOppose Assisted Suicide: As you know physician-assisted suicide (ABx2-15) was jammed through the California legislature in light-speed just a few months ago and then signed by the governor.  We have one more course of action if we are going to attempt to turn back this horrendous piece of legislation, a referendum.  If we can get enough signatures, we can pause ABx2-15 and put it on the ballot for the people to decide in November.  If we do not gather enough referend signatures, ABx2-15 will remain law and assisted suicide will be normalized in California.  Petitions are due December 15.

Support Parental Notification: Wouldn’t it be awesome if California joined the 39 other states who protect minor girls from having abortions without their parents’ knowledge?  A girl can’t have an aspirin without parental approval, but they can have a life-altering abortion.  This amendment to the California Constitution would affirm parental rights, keep minors from making life altering decisions apart from parental counsel, help battle human trafficking, and save unborn lives.  These stories are exactly why we must do what we can to protect women, girls and babies.  Petitions are due in early March.

This is our opportunity to act!  Now is the time!  Consider obtaining and collecting signatures THIS SUNDAY.

Please pray:

  • For the hearts of people throughout the state to be moved to value and protect life.
  • Pray for young ladies who face crisis pregnancies to choose life and to find real help through compassionate people and pregnancy resource centers.
  • Pray for healing for women who have had abortions.

Please act:

1. Get your hands on both of these petitions and get people signing!

2. Request petitions and carry them with you so you can have your friends and family sign them.

  • Assisted Suicide: Pick up petitions at a distribution center (or have your business/church become a distribution center), or order some here.
  • Parental Notification: Here is a list of where you can pick up petitions or have them sent to you.

3. Hold a petition drive at your church.  Click on the link and see how easy it is!

4. Please be sure that only one signature per person per petition is obtained.  It is important that we be accurate.

5. Send in your signed petitions before December 15, 2015, if possible.  The deadline for Parental Notification is in early March and the one for the Assisted Suicide Referendum is January 5.

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessing and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make . Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live.” ~Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT)

What’s your CWA story?

I heard about Concerned Women for America (CWA) on the radio just after I first became a Christian. One of my favorite radio programs was Beverly LaHaye Live. Beverly LaHaye is the founder of Concerned Women for America. I had recently had an abortion and was working through the devastation, grief, and healing of that experience when I discovered Beverly LaHaye Live. I loved how she, her organization, and others were fighting the evil of abortion. It was such a blessing to know that there were people out there who were trying to save women like me from the trauma that often comes as a result of abortion, and they were trying to rescue the innocent victims, the babies who die (3000 a day) in this barbaric practice.

After a while, I didn’t hear much about CWA. Then, one day in 2009, I got a call from the CWA Southern California Area Director asking me if I would start a Prayer/Action Chapter in my town. I am a homeschooling mom and thought I wouldn’t have time to take on yet another thing. (Don’t we all feel that way? Ha!) However, the commitment was minimal, and who doesn’t have time to pray, right? Plus it was centered on one of the things that most concerns me: my country. So, I accepted and started a chapter at my church.

Today, I am the Southern California Area Director. My job is to build more grassroots, Prayer/Action Chapters. I also keep track of state legislation concerning our core issues so that we can mobilize our grassroots to pray and take appropriate action.

Something I have learned so far in my short tenure as Area Director is how much I respect Esther from the Bible. Esther was afraid when she was asked to go to the king for the purpose of saving her people who were scheduled to be annihilated by the government. Even though she was afraid, she still did what she was called to do. Her words were, “And if I perish, I perish.” She risked her life to boldly approach the king. But God had placed her in the palace “for such a time as this.” I am so afraid so much of the time and out of my comfort zone. Still, I’d rather be in the center of God’s will than comfortable and complacent … and disobedient. A major lesson I have learned this year is that bravery is something you do and not always something you feel. You can be brave even when you are scared to death. I always thought that courageous people were confident of their abilities, but I think bravery is more often executed in spite of fear. Bravery is like love. You don’t have to feel affection for someone to love them. You just do it. So it is with bravery.

Call to Action

Could this be your Esther moment? How will you respond? Like Kori, you can impact America with Biblical truth. Don’t delay, join the movement today!
