Sen. Jeff Sessions’ opening remarks left no doubt he is the type of person we need leading the Department of Justice. He concluded, saying:
[Audio Clip] Sen. Jeff Sessions: I’ve always loved the law … It is the very foundation of this country. It is the exceptional foundation of America. … I have an abiding commitment to pursuing and achieving justice and a record of doing that.
The Democrats wanted to fight him on policy, perhaps because that’s what they have seen from the Obama Administration, but that is not the role of the Attorney General. The Department of Justice is supposed to enforce the laws passed by Congress, instead of being a political arm for the Administration.
