ACTION ALERT: Faith Without Works is Dead

By November 12, 2014Washington
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:20

Dear CWA of Washington Member,

CWA was founded on the belief that Biblical values promote freedom for God’s creation and that His people can influence the entire culture by understanding the importance of prayer to our God, then praying that His will be done in all circumstances, followed by education and action. Indeed, faith without action is dead, as James warned us. With the mid-term election season finally over and before Thanksgiving and Christmas arrive with all their busyness, we have some time to re-evaluate our priorities. With current events and God’s plan on your mind, please click here to see if there is a Prayer/Action Chapter near you.

CWA Prayer/Action Chapters pray, educate and equip members to take action on events and public policies related to our seven core issues (family, sanctity of life, education, sexual exploitation, religious liberty, national sovereignty, support for Israel). Please pray about becoming a CWA leader in your community and then e-mail or call us at (425) 869-1923 with any questions you have. We will come alongside you, train you and help you influence others to stand in the gap for God’s plan.

Prayer & Education

A few months ago, I asked you to pray for the release of Kenneth Bae from Lynnwood. He came home this past week! Terri Chung, his sister, expressed her appreciation: “She thanked people around the world for their prayers and government officials and others for advocating for Bae’s release. ‘First and foremost we thank God,’ Chung said, adding soon afterward, ‘I have to thank President Obama.’” Click here for more information on this story.

In that same alert, I asked you to pray for Pastor Saeed Abedini’s release from an Iranian prison. Pastor Abedini’s family lives in Boise, Idaho. Please continue to pray for him and his family as they stand for Christ Jesus and for his children to have hope in God’s plan for their father and themselves. Pastor Abedini told his daughter to be patient and endure. Please pray those words for the family.

Religious liberty and Christians continue to come under attack all around the world, including in our own state. Ken and Lynn Stormans’ case (re: stocking and dispensing abortifacients in their Olympia grocery-store pharmacy) goes to court again in the 9th District Court of Appeals in Portland on November 20. They have asked prayer especially for the three judges assigned to the case: Judges Clifton, Murguria, and Graber–all of whom have very liberal leanings. It will take a miracle to get a righteous ruling so let’s join together and pray for that! Pray that this case will honor God, that the judges will be open-minded and seriously consider the purpose of the religious liberty clause in the First Amendment as well as the greater ramifications of tearing down that clause.

Remember to pray for Baronnelle Stutzman who owns Arlene’s Flowers in Richland. She is standing firm in her refusal to participate in a homosexual wedding celebration. Even though she’s been sued by Washington State, she is firm in her stand and has said that she will not wilt! Pray for her continued strength and help her continue to stand with your prayers. Also pray for Attorney General Bob Ferguson, remembering Paul’s exhortation to believers to pray for those in authority, so that “we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” (I Timothy 2:1-3)

Action

This is where you as a CWA member can really make a difference! Your prayers and your telephone calls, e-mails, and letters to elected officials about these issues can make a difference! CWA is strictly non-partisan, but since legislators write the bills that create the laws that design the public policy with which you and I live, you have a responsibility and opportunity to let them know what you think. How else can they represent us if we don’t interact with them? Carefully and fully inform yourself, then pray and take action. CWA will continue to educate you on our seven core issues.

Please support us in prayers and financially as we continue to promote Biblical values among all citizens. Your membership gives CWA more power to influence and magnifies your impact.

Share this alert with other concerned citizens and then invite them to attend or establish a CWA Chapter or Home Team with you!

Please check out our Membership Form, Leadership Application and Young Women for America brochure to share with concerned younger women.

Please consider activating your faith and let me know what you are willing to do to influence our society and move us back to our spiritual and moral foundations.
