The North Dakota Senate passed an amended version of HB 1297 by a vote of 42-5. The bill updates and clarifies the Abortion Control Act, including provisions regarding abortion-inducing drugs, medical emergency definitions, judicial bypass for minors, and the abortion report forms. These improvements will strengthen the regulation of abortion in North Dakota and eventually save numerous women and unborn babies.

The state Senate amended the bill, so it now must go back to the House for approval of the Senate changes. We are confident the House will do so.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota sincerely thanks Representative Bette Grande (R-41, Fargo) for her tireless work on this legislation as well as her leadership of the pro-life caucus. Please contact her at bgrande@nd.gov and express your gratitude.

We also wish to thank Christopher Dodson, Legal Counsel to the North Dakota Catholic Conference for his many long and intense hours of work on HB 1297.
